Graciano Corporation Wins Best Of 2003 Annual Award For Restoration Of The Brooklyn Academy of Music(Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) Graciano Corporation, one of the country’s leading architectural restoration organizations, has been honored for its work on the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) with the Best Of 2003 Annual Award given by New York Construction magazine. The award spotlights the best restoration project in the New York metro region. It also recognizes the contributions of key development team members and their innovative solutions to project challenges. This is the third consecutive year Graciano has been honored with the award. Previously, the firm was lauded for its work on the MetLife Building and Queensboro Bridge. As the masonry contractor on the BAM assignment, Graciano’s responsibilities included general masonry restoration, supervision of all specialty contractors, extensive repair work to cornices and parapets, replication of damaged brick to match existing materials, and removal, replacement and reinstallation of terra-cotta elements, flashings and supporting substructures. The project also involved construction of a GFRC cornice, parapet and balustrade to replace original architectural elements that had been removed from the building decades ago.
