Mt. Sinai Hospital Parking Garage

Twenty-five years of exposure to road salt, water and changing temperatures had taken their toll on the six-level parking garage at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City. Graciano Corporation was selected to restore the 150,000 sq. ft. facility. Early structural evaluation revealed significant damage, including water and salt penetration. The reinforcing steel rebar had rusted and expanded, causing the concrete to crack and spall.

The project included:

  • Removal and restoration of each level of the garage’s damaged concrete and supporting deck, leaving only a steel skeleton
  • Concrete repair of the remaining, non-deck concrete, which was cracked, spalled, and broken
  • Installation of new decking and reinforcements
  • Replacement of curbs
  • Weatherproofing and sealing of the new garage surface using an advance urethane coating system and watertight sealant
