The Central Synagogue at 55th and Lexington has long been an important religious site and the center of Jewish cultural life in New York City. Built in 1872 the structure is a rare and opulent example of Moorish Revival architecture. A National Historic Landmark, it is the oldest building in New York City to be in continuous use as a synagogue.
In August 1998, a five-alarm fire nearly destroyed this treasured building. Graciano Corporation played an important role in rebuilding this structure.
